Fire Cupping
Fire cupping is a therapy in which a glass jar is attached to the skin surface using negative pressure created by introducing a flame into the cup, and superficial skin and muscle layers are pulled into the cup. Cups are either left stationary for several minutes or moved around utilizing many different techniques such as sliding or flash cupping. Cupping is a form of bodywork that can be described as a "reverse massage," pulling up on the body's tissues versus pressing down. Cupping can help to relieve sore muscles and other aches and pains, but is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for many other conditions, including but not limited to: arthritis, sprains, indigestion, stomach pain, headache, back pain, etc.
Fire Cupping-only appointments are available and scheduled for 20 minutes.
Fire cupping and Tuina appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, where fire cupping is combined with tuina (Chinese medical massage). Tuina is a specific form of massage based on Chinese medical principles. It involves deep tissue manipulation often along acupuncture points and meridians, stretching, and manipulation of the muscles, joints, and tendons.

Benefits of Fire Cupping
Pain Relief
Fire Cupping is renowned for its effectiveness in alleviating muscle pain, joint stiffness, and chronic pain conditions. The cups create a gentle suction, which can promote blood circulation and encourage the body's natural healing processes.
Stress Reduction
The calming and soothing nature of Fire Cupping can reduce stress, anxiety, and tension, leaving you with a profound sense of relaxation.
Detoxification
The therapy is believed to support the body's detoxification processes by increasing circulation and lymphatic drainage. This can lead to the elimination of metabolic waste products.
Improved Immunity
Some practitioners suggest that Fire Cupping can boost the immune system by stimulating Qi in the body.
Enhanced Skin Health
In addition to its physical benefits, Fire Cupping can improve skin health by promoting collagen production and reducing signs of aging, such as wrinkles and sagging.
What to expect during your session:
Consultation:
Your session begins with a consultation to discuss your health history, wellness goals, and any specific concerns you may have.
Preparation:
Your practitioner may apply a special oil to create a smooth surface for the cups.
Fire cupping application:
Using specialized glass cups, your practitioner will create a vacuum by briefly heating the cups with an open flame and then placing them on your skin. The cups are strategically positioned based on your needs and concerns. Cups may be left stationary and/or moved around utilizing different techniques.
Sensation:
You will feel a gentle pulling sensation as the cups create suction. This sensation is typically not painful and is often described as deeply relaxing.
Post-treatment:
Cupping often leaves bruises in areas where cups are applied. These bruises are not painful, and may last anywhere from 1-2 days up to 7-10 days, and depends upon many factors. Immediately following the session, areas where cups were applied may be slightly raised. This will subside quickly. Most patients leave the session feeling decreased muscle tension and increased relaxation.
